After basic surgical training he spent 16 months as “the surgeon” in a mission hospital in Zululand. His Orthopaedic training took place at St Georges Hospital, Leicester University and Bristol. He has undertaken specialist fellowships in Hand and microsurgery an Sydney together with knee and sports medicine in Melbourne and Lund.
