What is Orthopaedic Surgery?

It is the treatment of problems relating to bones and joints. An Orthopaedic surgeon's job is to assess your problem and advise you which treatments are available.

Will I need an operation?

Some conditions may require an operations but most will not.
A variety of treatments are available. These might include the
use of physiotherapy or drugs and splints.

Will I need any tests?

You may require x-rays or a scan to confirm or clarify the nature of your complaint. The Royal Surrey is equipped with up to date diagnostic equipment.

How do I get an appointment?

Normally your GP will decide whether or not you need to see an Orthopaedic specialist.
The GP will know the local surgeons and is best placed to determine which surgeon is best suited to your needs
